when i was a florist i used to dream about having ordinary an mother's day.
not working, sleeping in, cups of tea in bed.
working as a florist, doing 12-14 hour days (or more) in the lead up to mother's day always left me too exhausted to enjoy mother's day. i always worked most of that day as well, so no chance of a lie in.
three years on from that time in my life and i am loving having an 'ordinary' mothers day. no lie in, no tea in bed (no chance of that with a partner working away, a toddler to look after and teenage daughters busy with their own lives) but an ordinary day enjoyed just the same.
reflecting on what it means to be a mother and toddler hugs made it for me this mother's day.
happy mother's day!
